Elijah was the first in a long line of important prophets God sent to the Kingdom of Israel. God called Prophets like Elijah to bring God’s Word to His people and to try to rescue Israel from their moral and spiritual decline. In 1 Kings 17, we meet Elijah and then he is taken to heaven in 2 King 2 after anointing his successor. His introduction in Scripture is marred in chaos and the rest of his life seems as if it’s spinning out of control. But, in the midst of all that, God is up to something and we have so much to learn from his life.
